Vantage, WA
09.25.10 - 09.26.10
Emiko and I spent the weekend climbing at Vantage. On Saturday we climbed several routes on Sunshine Wall. I was super psyched to onsight “Stems and Seeds” a 5.11b/c. The route was challenging, but fun, taking mostly micronuts and small cams. I also was happy to redpoint “Bob’s Your Uncle,” an outstanding 5.11a. On Sunday, we met our good friend Fred Beckey in Leavenworth. Unfortunately, upon arriving in Leavenworth it started raining, so we headed back to Vantage. At Vantage we climbed several interesting routes on the Zigzag Wall, and then headed to an area we’d never been to called Middle East Wall. Wow! Middle East Wall is a gem; outstanding rock and superb crack climbing—I don’t know how we missed this area all these years. We climbed several routes at Middle East Wall, the best being “Jihad” a superb 5.11a/b that I’m happy to report I got onsight! Yeah! Another excellent weekend!
