08.26.09 Nisleheim Peak East Ridge 5.7
08.27.09 Koch Creek Ambrosia Buttress 5.8 RAwesome!
Nisleheim Peak on the left, Gimli the right. We climbed Nisleheims east ridge, readily visible here on the right hand side of the peak. Although it looks small compared to Gimli it is not of insignificant size or technicality.
Eric gearing up.
Eric en route to Nisleheim.
Emiko ready to climb; the east ridge directly behind.
Eric (visible just up and right of center, in yellow jacket) leading the first pitch.
Emiko following the first pitch.
Emiko at the top of pitch 1 on a moderately pitched section of the ridge.
Emiko at the summit (Gimli summits behind).
Looking back towards our camp (barely visible) from the summit.
Looking up Nisleheims NW ridge which we downclimbed to descend (4th class).
A goat that we passed on our way down that was on his way up (I actually saw him at the summit as we neared the bottom of the ridge!).
More great views from the summit.
Gimli Peaks NE Buttress as seem from behind Nisleheim.
Eric carefully making his way back to the col between Gimli and Nisleheim; the path was not wide.
Emiko descending back to camp.
After our climb we broke camp and descended to the trailhead; we passed many bushes brimming with fat sweet berries.
Emiko back at our truck, looking at the two peaks we'd climbed in the past 24 hours.
